Vote! Jason Carter for GA State Senate

Tomorrow, Tuesday the 11th, Dekalb County residents will vote for their new state senator in a special election. (Get out and vote, folks!) It seemed the right time to share some shots I took of candidate Jason Carter as he campaigned throughout the county a few months back…

We stopped by Jason’s house for a few minutes, and I got to meet his precious family!

A BIG thanks to Jason’s staff for all their hard work in bringing people together for photographs! Best of luck tomorrow!!!

Christ Church Suwanee

Our friend Mike Lefevre planted a new church in Suwanee, Georgia, about a year ago, along with some other ministers. Their congregation is growing, and Mike invited me to come to Suwanee and photograph a worship service and spend the afternoon with some of the members of the church. It was really cool to be on the documenting side of a church service, rather than the participating side!

Bicycle Tours of Atlanta: A Progressive Dinner Tour

I was so excited when our friend Robyn asked if I would come along on her new Progressive Dinner Bicycle Tour and photograph the experience! Bicycle Tours of Atlanta’s dinner tour took us to four restaurants over four hours, and allowed us to bike throughout midtown and downtown Atlanta! Robyn also offers a dinner tour through Inman Park/Old Fourth Ward, which I’m dying to try now!

For the Progressive Dinner Tour, the bikers all met at the fabulous Georgian Terrace Hotel…

After some fresh fruit and cheese in a side lobby, we walked through the Georgian Terrace to the Livingston for a champagne toast!

Robyn provides the bikes and helmets for all of the tour participants, which is great for someone like me who hadn’t been on a bike since I was in high school! At first I was REALLY nervous to be on a bike in the middle of Peachtree Street, but after only a few blocks I felt like an old pro. :)

We stopped in at Fresh 2 Order for DELICIOUS salads, paninis, and homemade soups! The corn chowder was to die for!

Next we biked over to Max Lager’s for crab cakes, pizza, and beer tasting! The outdoor patio was wonderful, and the upstairs event area at Max Lager’s looked like the perfect spot for a private party.

Next we rode over to Centennial Olympic Park…

…then to Ray’s in the City for delicious seafood and family style sides, including THE BEST mashed potatoes I’d ever had!

This tour has me yearning for MORE from Bicycle Tours of Atlanta! I can’t wait to put a group together for a History Tour, especially since I got a small taste of one when we biked past the old Winecoff Hotel downtown and learned about the 1946 fire that claimed 119 lives in the brick “fire proof” hotel. I’ve lived here my whole life and didn’t know that story!

Natural Bridals: Sustainable Wedding Gowns

My friend Morgan designs GORGEOUS wedding gowns using only sustainable materials. Did you know a hemp wedding dress could look like this?!? I got to see her gowns up close when we did a shoot at Historic Stonehurst. Here are a few of my favorite images…

This is one of two gowns that I photographed that have a detachable underskirt, so the dress can be long for the ceremony, then short for the party!
