Signature Album: Jessica + Brett

By Anne Almasy | Books & Albums | July 29, 2008 |

We just got Jessica and Brett’s Signature Album back from the publisher, and it looks SO gorgeous!

We had a die created from their logo design, and used that to stamp the chocolate brown leather cover.

Their “album” is actually “albumS” — they’re receiving a two-volume set with a total of 100 pages of photographs from their wedding day and aftershoot.

The books have now been shipped off to their new home with Jessica and Brett in Virginia, but here are some photos…

Married! Emily + Bill

By Dan & Anne Almasy | Weddings | July 27, 2008 |

**Click HERE to see the slideshow!

We really, truly, honestly had SO much fun with Emily and Bill and their families! These two are such a brilliant couple; they just WORK together, and they were so excited to be getting married!

For the guys, the day started with a few beers and some pool at Decatur’s Twain’s. Dan dialed their wedding date into the pool table’s little scoring board.

Bill, hustling (just kidding).

Emily, in a chair at Salon Red gets advice from her mom Gail about where to place the veil.

Bill’s mom (ALSO named Gail!) spruces up the flower girls’ hair.

Emily’s brother-in-law helps the boys get ready.

Emily reads her pre-ceremony love letter from her husband-to-be.  The most beautiful part?  Bill had written this letter to Emily two years before, when they first started dating.  I don’t know what it said, but it seemed clear that he had fallen head-over-heels for her way back then, and had saved his thoughts for this perfect moment.

Bill reads Emily’s pre-ceremony love letter to him.  She also surprised him with a brand new iPod!  Sweet!

Grandfather and grandson…

Emily’s dad sees her in her wedding gown for the first time, and can’t help but get a little choked up.

Emily and her dad walk down the aisle at the Dekalb History Center, the old Decatur courthouse. Why can’t all courthouses be this extraordinary?

Bill sees Emily for the first time…

…Emily says her vows to Bill…

…and they walk back up the aisle. NEWLYWEDS!

Emily and Bill are STUNNING examples of why we think the E-Shoot is so important.  They were both a little nervous the day we did their E-Shoot, but when we stepped out for portraits on their wedding day, they were 100% relaxed, just their beautiful selves shining for the camera.  “We’re pros now!” Emily said.  YAY!

Gloriosa was responsible for the astonishing flowers, scrumptious catering, and ultra-fab lighting design. Gooseberry Events held everything together like clockwork, and guided Emily and Bill through the process of hosting the biggest party of their lives!

Bill’s best man Trent prepared a speech that had everyone absolutely rolling with laughter and applause…

…he had framed the newspaper ad Emily placed that ultimately brought Bill to her, first as her employee, then as the love of her life!

Bill’s dad and sister TOTALLY cracked up during the toasts!

First dance.

Emily’s mom takes a photo as Emily dances with her dad.

Bill dances with his mom as his family looks on.

Yes.  This boy is flying.

The expressions on the faces of the two below is so hilarious!  Need we say, “Good times were had by all”? Thanks to Spectrum for getting the party started!

The bouquet-catcher and the garter-catcher high-five each other.

Last dance…

…and grand exit!

THANK YOU, Emily and Bill, for including us in this incredible celebration! We wish you years and years of love on your journey together!

Dinner with PriceWaterhouse Coopers

By Anne Almasy | Commercial, Lifestyle & Event | July 25, 2008 |

Every year, PriceWaterhouse Coopers holds a dinner to welcome their new partners, and honor the partners who are retiring. I was honored myself to be asked to photograph the celebration!

The dinner took place in one of the beautiful rooms at Atlanta’s Cherokee Town and Country Club. Each retiring partner received a small gift from Tiffany & Co.

…and dinner guests wrote notes to each partner on personalized note cards.

A new partner gets a squeeze…

When cocktail hour was over, a wonderful man in a tuxedo walked through playing a dinnertime tune on a little gold xylophone:

Some laughs during the speeches…

This was the first course of the night: DELICIOUS crab cakes!  A little table was set up for us by the bar, and we were fed like queens!

Here is Chris, my PWC contact and the lady who made sure I got to partake in the amazing food!

More speeches…

THANK YOU, PWC for letting me share this evening with you!

And a big, fat thanks to my friend Lauren Wright, who came along to keep me company and share in the scrumptious food.  You’re the best!

Boudoir at The Wyndham

By Anne Almasy | Boudoir | July 25, 2008 |

Another fun boudoir shoot! I’m getting more and more inquiries for these, and I’m thrilled to be doing more! Who would’ve thunk it? : )

This time the killer hair was done by my all-time FAVORITE colorist and stylist Marie, who even stopped by the hotel to re-do my cute boudoir-girlie’s rained-flattened hair! You ROCK, Marie! (I’ll show a face-and-hair shot later… these photos are are to be a wedding gift, and we can’t risk the groom finding them online and figuring out where his bride REALLY was this day!)

If any of you chicas are interested in seeing more photos, contact me to schedule a time to come by our loft. For privacy reasons, I don’t post these images in a publicly-accessible online gallery, but I’ll be happy to share more with you in print!

Ty Pennington for Porter Novelli

By Anne Almasy | Commercial, Portraits | July 21, 2008 |

BIG, ENORMOUS thanks to our friends Kate and Matt Altmix for taking a vacation this week and referring Porter Novelli to us for a corporate event (which I’ll shoot tomorrow). That “some-kinda-press-release-thing” referral led to me creating some portraits of Ty Pennington today on a white-hot rooftop overlooking Atlanta. Ty was awesome, the Porter Novelli folks were fabulous, and we all sweated buckets in the short 5 minutes we spent shooting.

Here’s two for them:

And one for me:

Another big gracias to my awesome husband who retouched all the dust from my filthy sensor! ICK.

Engaged! Nicole + Ryan

By Dan & Anne Almasy | E-Shoots | July 20, 2008 |

In September of 2006 we photographed this awesome, funny, FUN couple at their Atlanta townhouse. Two years and one move later, we got to create ENGAGEMENT photographs for them! When Nicole and Ryan get married in September, it will have been almost exactly two years since we predicted that one day we would photograph their wedding. We’re SO elated that we were right!

Here are a few shots that we loved from their E-Shoot last week…

1st Picks: Heather + Dirk

By Dan & Anne Almasy | 1st Picks | July 11, 2008 |

We had an AMAZING time photographing Heather and Dirk’s wedding on June 28th — just two days after our own 4-year anniversary! We told Heather it was a lucky weekend, one reserved for couples who will be happy, happy, happy for years to come! We know this will be the case for both of them.

Here are a couple of shots that stood out from their set of images as we began editing…

Behind the Smithgall Arts Center where they held their reception there was this long beautiful train, just parked in the lawn as some sort of landmark. I (Anne) grew up by train tracks, and I LOVE trains, so this was a fun opportunity for me. This was a shot I really loved:

On Dan’s behalf, I chose this party shot as his 1st Pick. I love the layers and layers of people, all having such an incredible time! I think this gives just a glimpse of what an awesome party they had:

Last but certainly not least, we have to give a BIG, FAT THANK YOU to photographer extraordinaire Genya Garrett who was IN the wedding, and was gracious enough to share her dear friends with us. You’re awesome, Genya!

Vendors we love: Viridis Designs

By Dan & Anne Almasy | Vendors | July 7, 2008 |

The fabulous Viridis Designs was responsible for the bold bouquets at our friends’ Alissa and Ben’s wedding! Alissa told us that she knew she wanted smaller, modern bouquets with VIBRANT colors and eclectic floral combinations. We think Viridis hit the mark!
