June 26, 2004

By Dan Almasy | Weddings | June 26, 2008 |

Today, it has been 4 years since Anne and I took our very own walk down the aisle. I can honestly say that getting married to her is the best thing that I ever did… and I feel very fortunate that we get to share our lives together.

Seeing all of you get married over the years has done nothing but reinforce our belief that long, lasting love is real, and we’re honored to have shared in that with so many of you.

Now… we’ll be out of the office the rest of the day, so we can enjoy our anniversary :)

Engaged! Angie + Justin

By Dan & Anne Almasy | E-Shoots | June 23, 2008 |

We were lucky to be introduced to Angie and Justin through our mutual friends Alissa and Ben, whose wedding we photographed in March. We love Angie and Justin just as much as we love Alissa and Ben! Honestly, we just have to say that we feel SO, SO, SO incredibly fortunate to get to photograph so many wonderful couples. We truly can’t say enough…

So anyway… here are a few shots from our E-Shoot with Angie and Justin…

Thank you guys for coming down and for entrusting us with your wedding day and all that that entails! We can’t wait for September!

Wrap-up: Kate + Steve

By Dan & Anne Almasy | Press & Praise | June 17, 2008 |

“This picture captures the moment that the whole day was centered around, our priest announcing us for the first time as husband and wife. We look at this picture and see one of the most important moments of our lives in a very striking photograph. The image zeroed in on just the three of us, the grand gesture our priest is making, and the emotion on our faces make this a really powerful photograph and captures a moment for us that we never want to forget.” -Kate and Steve

Church ceremonies are notoriously difficult to photograph because of the church’s strict rules regarding photography. We always honor the policies of any place of worship, and we feel fortunate when we’re able to work with the church to maintain the sacredness of the ceremony AND create evocative images.

Obviously, Kate and Steve felt the emotion of this photograph, since they chose is as the Wrap-up image for their wedding day.

We love it, too!

Thank you for sharing, guys!

Wrap-up: Tiffany + Brent

By Dan & Anne Almasy | Press & Praise | June 17, 2008 |

“This photo is the culmination of one year of planning and you can clearly see by the smiles on our faces how happy we were at that moment! We were sharing our first walk together as husband and wife with friends and family looking on. When we see this photo now, the vivid image instantly takes us back to that happy place and moment of pure joy.” -Tiffany and Brent

We love feedback, and it’s especially wonderful to hear about an image that really stood out to the newlyweds. Thank you for this wonderful commentary, guys!

For all you shooters out there…

By Dan & Anne Almasy | News | June 15, 2008 |

Now, this blog isn’t really “for photographers”, but since we know there are a lot of you out there reading, we thought the easiest way to share would be a blog post.

We get a lot of e-mails from a lot of different people asking about lighting. How do we light… What gear to we use… Etc. If you’ve ever written us one of those e-mails, then you’ve gotten a reply that included our five-star recommendation of Zack Arias’s One Light Workshop.

Zack’s currently working on a One Light DVD, which is going to make his teaching more accessible to a wider audience of photographers. You can now see a 7 minute preview of his DVD on YouTube.

Zack was a huge inspiration to us when it came to on-location lighting, and especially was instrumental in encouraging Dan in his self-taught education. We shoot very differently from Zack, and we adapted some of his lighting techniques to more effectively fit our style, but the foundation he offers in his workshops is valid for ANYONE who wants the ability to create light where there is none, or manipulate the light that is already there.

Enjoy!

1st Pick: Emily + Bill

By Dan & Anne Almasy | 1st Picks | June 15, 2008 |

A quick browse through Emily and Bill’s wedding day photographs drew us to these two photographs, shot at the same time in different places, showing the bride and groom reading the letters they wrote one another before getting married. They were each completely engrossed in their love letters, as though they were the only person in the room.
