November Anniversaries!

By Dan & Anne Almasy | Weddings | November 18, 2006 |

Among a million random photography projects, we shot two weddings in November of 2005. We thought it would be funny to look back at what these crazy kids were doing one year ago…

Tamala Newbold & Lincoln Singleton, 11.5.2005
Fernbank Museum of Natural History
Tamala and Lincoln were SUPPOSED to get married in New Orleans with a wild and crazy parade down Bourbon Street after the ceremony. Hurricane Katrina had other plans, however, so Tam and Lincoln moved the celebration to Atlanta. They went full-force with their parade, band, masks, and all! YAY!

Cara O’Connell & Brian McDonald, 11.19.2005
Tuscaloosa, Alabama – Yacht Club
Cara and Brian were sweethearts from… what… 5th grade or something? Seriously, they had been together FOR-EV-ER. When they finally got married everyone was SOOOOO excited. Brian gave the sweetest speech at the end of the night, totally honoring Cara and sharing his love for her in front of everyone. Awwwww! :)

Happy Anniversary!!!!

After the Fact…

I’m so glad that we do all of our own post-production!

Post can be the most labor-intensive part of the wedding-shooter proceses. All the editing and sequencing and retouching starts to make you batty after a time. But if *my eyes* weren’t looking at each individual image, this shot probably would have ended up in the scrap heap:

This shot was actually a test shot from Kristen and Clif’s wedding in October. It was totally overexposed. Were it not for Lexar’s warnings about on-camera deletions, I would have scrapped it on site.

But I DIDN’T delete it off the camera, so it DID make it into our post-production cycle. And you know what? I love it! I think that sometimes there’s a subconscious part of me that is shooting, aiming for something I don’t yet know about. Only after the fact do I see an image’s potential. :)

Kristen, you’re so gorgeous! I’m glad you let me drag you around at the Swan Coach House taking random photographs! I wouldn’t have gotten this shot otherwise!

Love,

Corbin Anthony, 11.4.2006

We have a nephew!

Corbin Anthony Abarr was born at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, and he’s SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO precious!

Corbin was born 5-and-a-half weeks early, so he only weighed 5 pounds, 8 ounces! So tiny! My brother Geoff cradled him in his hands for a few minutes before the nurse wrapped him into a “baby burrito” – he was all blanket after that!

I love the look on Geoff’s face here…

Ellen (my sister and our regular photo assistant) took this photo of Corbin finally opening his eyes…

We love you already, Corbin!!!!
