Engaged! Maisha + Torry

By Dan & Anne Almasy | E-Shoots | June 23, 2009 |

Maisha and Torry are engaged!  We’re SO excited to photograph Maisha and Torry’s Thanksgiving-ish wedding with just the smallest group of family members.  It’s going to be incredibly intimate and special, and we’re honored to be part!  These two are incredibly giving people with huge hearts for others AND for one another.  We really can’t say enough about how awesome they are… so we’ll just let you enjoy the photos.  :)

No WONDER Torry fell for her, right?

And, um, yeah.  Lucky lady.

We wondered over to Grant Park for most of these shots. It’s such a great space.

Maisha and Torry, we hope you guys enjoyed the rest of your mini-vacation together!  We’ll be seeing you SOON!

Married! Ollie + Brandon

By Dan & Anne Almasy | Weddings | June 22, 2009 |

**CLICK HERE to see the slideshow!

Ollie and Brandon were married at Primrose Cottage in Roswell, Georgia. Getting to know these two has been one of the highlights of our year! We just wish they didn’t live all the way out in Seattle so we could hang out again. :(

Tijen with Creme Events brought all of the details together:

1, 3, 5, 10, and 12: Flowers and feathers by Ginger Lily Events
2, 7, and 8: Cupcakes by SugarMama Cupcakery
4: The rings, crafted by Brandon’s grandfather.
6: The ketubah — SO beautiful!
9: Guests signed a cookbook as then arrived for the ceremony.
11:  In anticipation of a hot May day, Ollie and Brandon’s programs were printed paper fans. (Genius!)

Ollie checks herself out in a mirror.  The Moore Agency gave Ollie her adorable 20’s-inspired updo and makeup!

Brandon and his groomsmen analyze the tie situation…

I’ve already said this, but Brandon’s grandfather MADE these rings.  HOW FLIPPIN’ COOL IS THAT?!?!?!

Ollie straps on her shoes…

Love this shot of Brandon cracking up…

Ollie and Brandon opted to see one another before their ceremony.  YAY!

It started raining just as we got to the group portraits, so we had to squeeze into the house!  They still look pretty hot, huh?

This glass turtle paperweight was a gift from Brandon’s mom, and weighed down the ketubah for signing.

Ollie’s bridesmaid got emotional as the Rabbi read the ketubah.  Too sweet…

Brandon lowers Ollie’s veil…

About 20 minutes before the ceremony began, Ollie decided her sparkly, strappy heels were just too uncomfortable and difficult to walk in.  So she put her tennis shoes back on.  Happy girl!  :)  This is what we love about Ollie…

The rain let up just before the ceremony was supposed to begin outside.  Rabbi Greene seemed to be having a quick word with God about the weather.

Ollie and her mom…

Two bridesmaids and two groomsmen held the chuppah over the bride and groom…

About halfway through the marriage ceremony, it started raining again!  Completely unfazed by the whole thing, Ollie and Brandon just ushered everyone indoors to finish.

They’re married!

You can’t shoot at Primrose without noticing the huge red clawfoot bathtub in the bride’s room.  Seriously?  How cool is this that thing?

The first dance…

Ollie and her dad…

Brandon and his mom…

HAHAHA!  The horah is the BEST!

Livin’ Large kept the party going…

Wrapping up the last dance of the night…

As their friends and family gathered outside to see them off, we snagged a couple minutes to take a few more portraits…

CONGRATULATIONS, Brandon and Ollie!  You MUST look us up next time you’re in Atlanta.  I’m sure there will be some new TV shows and movies we’ll need to geek out about.  ;)

Backlit Boudoir

By Anne Almasy | Boudoir | June 22, 2009 |

I just wrapped up another boudoir shoot at The W here in Atlanta, this time for two friends of a previous boudoir client.

I love The W because of the HUGE floor-to-ceiling windows and white linens.

Here are three favorites, sans faces (as always):

1st Picks: Kristen + Ty

Ohhhhhh… Kris and Ty… We can’t WAIT for you to see them all! :D

The bling:

Ella is new here.

By Anne Almasy | Portraits | June 15, 2009 |

I got to photograph Miss Ella just shy of her 4-week birthday!  She is a beautiful little girl, and so lucky to have Georgianna and Jon as parents!

When I first showed up at Georgianna and JB’s house, Ella was sound asleep on her daddy’s chest.  In the few minutes it took me to get ready to shoot, she woke up — with a vengeance!

Georgianna’s friends created a wishing tree at one of her baby showers!  All the guests wrote notes to Georgianna and the baby, and hung them on the branches of the little tree.  This note was my favorite:

Ella loves being outside, and since she was feeling a bit restless, we took her out to enjoy the great outdoors.

How ADORABLE is this face?!?  I love the way babies are in their own little world, making expressions and noises that no one but them can possibly understand.

New dad…

New baby…

New mom…

Georgianna tried EVERYTHING to get Ella to relax and fall asleep!  She must have eaten three times, been rocked for nearly an hour, and sweet-talked by everyone in the house.  But she remained awake and wide-eyed, so I got to enjoy her huge gorgeous eyes to my heart’s content.  :)

Belly button!

A cowlick in the making?

Congratulations, Georgianna and Jon!  I’m so happy for you!

Jana + John + Baby

By Anne Almasy | Portraits | June 12, 2009 |

We LOVE LOVE LOVE that so many of our clients are having babies now! Jana and John are no exception, and I was honored to create photographs of these parents-to-be just ONE DAY before Jana was scheduled to give birth!

Jana and John brought along this little chime toy that was Jana’s as a baby.  It makes the sweetest sound when it’s shaken!

Hellooooooooooo Pretty Pregnant Lady!  :)

Jana’s belly really was this smooth!  Zero retouching, folks!

This is one of my favorites:

I can’t wait to see you guys again SOON to photograph the new little addition to your family!

Big Print in Action.

The Westin Boston Waterfront

By Anne Almasy | Commercial | June 1, 2009 |

FUN FUN FUN! I got to travel to Boston to create images for a cookbook being published by The Westin Boston Waterfront hotel.   My sister Katie began working there a couple months back, and when this cookbook project fell into her lap, she asked me to submit a bid for the photography.

2-day photo shoot + visit with my sis in Boston = yes please!

Not only did I get the job of creating the photographs, but Dan will be designing the cookbook!

The hotel staff wear these name badges that also share the individual’s “passion” — cool idea, huh?  Well, Katie’s idea was to use an image like this one for the cookbook cover.  Not sure if this will wind up as the cover, but I love the idea anyway!

The cookbook will include recipes for a number of sauces.  These are some of the ingredients.

Over the 3 days I was in Boston, I spent some time documenting the Westin kitchen at work.  If you’ve ever shot (or worked) in an active commercial kitchen, you know how crazy it can get in there!  I loved the challenge of creating interesting images that captured the vibe of the kitchen, all while avoiding the grit and grease that naturally come with the territory.

Sauciety is the hotel’s scrumptious restaurant. (If you’re in the Boston area, stop by and order the fries with whiskey ketchup. YUM!)

Chef Nicholas.

Crab cake.

Lobster mustache.  (What else would you call it?!?)

The Westin’s lobby is WONDERFUL.  Wide open spaces, warm stone floors, and dried birch trees filling the room.

Back in the kitchen…

Chef Lucien.

Three chowders.

I was kind of obsessed with these throw pillows…

Chef Cedric.

*Drool.*  Cedric’s desserts are to die for!

Chef Roy and Chef Brian.

Who does that with their bacon?  Really?  Love it.

The team.

Big, fat THANKS to the incredible folks at The Westin who made me feel SO welcome, and gave me so many beautiful dishes to photograph!
